We have a friend who is a K9 officer in Detroit and you would not believe how anxious his dog is to get to work. The second he starts putting on his uniform the dog runs to the front door and sits and stares at the patrol car until he comes and lets him out. Then he runs to the door and barks cause he can't get i!

You also would not believe some of the stories he has to tell...both serious and FUNNY when that dog goes into action. Most of the time he doesn't even have to let the dog loose and the 'perp' drops to his knees and assumes the position.

GB  I was a flight chief (Shift supervisor) for several years during my career in the Air Force Security Forces (MPs).  I ALWAYS used my K9 patrol in every situation feasable!  Almost adopted one of my favorites who was retiring at the same time I was.  Unfortunately he never got the chance to fully retire due to cancer, so the adoption wasn't meant to be.  My K9 handlers honored me at my retirement by letting me take one last bite from one of our dogs (with the bite sleeve on of course!)

When Don's dog "Duke" is not working he is the sweetest 'mutt' but let Don reach for that uniform and he becomes ALL work and no funny stuff.

What breed is Duke?  Shepherd, Malinois, other?  Our K9 were mostly German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, or a mix of these.  Some were flat out psychos who's handlers were even wary of them, but, most were pretty gentle until something or someone turned the switch on!  Then look out!

Duke is a full German Shepherd bred and born into the 'security business' from a long line of K-9 dogs.
When he plays he plays hard but gentle...But when he works he is PURE Work and nothing is fun until Don takes that uniform off.
