Finished another one

Just finished this this afternoon, after I cut the last of the three music word art plaques. Not sure what wood this is. It was soft when I cut it but of course it is about 1/8-1/4 thick. It was from a tree that was down in our yard. I am thinking of a base for it made from the bark of the tree that we shaved off for the piece of slab for me. Tell me what you think about doing it that way. Or should I just add a painted backer?
The pattern is by Darklady
Honest, opinions please, as this is going to be a gift for someone...

Just my opinion, but I think a base would do it more justice than a backer. I feel a piece of work that still has the bark on the sides should not have anything to make it look less natural, if ya know what I mean. You did a wonderful job on the cut. I have never tried anything with the bark on it, but i do like the way it looks.

Hola Tonya, es un trabajo bell?simo y original, en mi opini?n muy personal no necesitas agragar nada, m?s que mucho amor a la hora que lo entregues.
es increible como de un pedazo de madera puedas crear un arte tan hermoso, felicidades

Frank's Translation: Hello Tonya, is a beautiful and original work, in my personal opinion NSF do not need anything more than a lot of love when it delivered.
