Charlie .. I must say the pattern is fabulous, but the heartfelt gesture of doing this for GB goes beyond words.
GB .. Some times doing what is right doesn't feel good, but we have to if we truly care.  No matter how long you had her, I'm sure it was the best time of her life. My thoughts are with you.  Marion

Been there and had to do that, it's one of the toughest decisions we have to make with the loving friends that don't live as long as we do.
Our last 2 Vizslas had to be put down due to cancer After the first one I just couldn't face the task with the last one and begged off so the wife had to do the chore. I was especially close to her as she had saved me from a possible mauling by a Black Bear with cub I almost walked into.
Her photo is my wallpaper on my desk top and I look at her first thing when I fire up and the last thing when I shut down not to mention the other times when I'm not looking at anything on a website. RIP "Dancer"!
I don't mean to steal your place here GB, just sharing your feelings.

Ya know GB, If you think about it, The modern dog and cat were breed to be companions and I suppose working animals. So it becomes natural to get attached to them! I know this wont make you feel any better, But it may help you understand.

WHY....Do we get so attached?

~~~gb~~~
At least with dogs they give us everything they have to give and even worship us as gods. In return they are satisfied with the leavings of our plate or some tastless chow, and with a rug or even bare floor to sleep on.
Any creature we take into our homes and hearts, hurts when they are gone it's that little empty place in our souls. Cats are a different story, they keep us humble after the dog thought we are god, the cat knows better, but they are a companion never the less.
Lumpy throat,
Hey GB, we had a dog for 16 years, and two years ago we lost him.  I am not ashamed to say the wife and I both shead tears over him.  So I know how you are feeling.  They get to be part of the fanily.  My thoughts go with you and prayers.  Charlie, that was really kind of you to do that for GB.
