Christmas ornaments

I have received my ornament patterns from Steve and they are really fantastic.

I have been looking all over for patterns I could personalize and then use as the place setting for Christmas dinner.  These fit the bill extactly and the best part is that the LOML is thrilled.

Now, to cut them (19).

Does anyone one have any suggestions on what wood could ge use?

ply is recommended i guess. Try birch. And also check fro some beech ply - a bit harder, cuts well and is easy to finish/oil/lacquer - whatever.

Hey Don, Baltic Birch plywood is good, but I prefer Hardwoods. For ornaments I like to use Mahogany, Cherry, Walnut, Maple and Alder. Since these are personalized and you will be cutting them one at a time, I would use 1/4". Use an oil to bring out the grain and color, Then when dry, top coat with your favorite finish. I like to use semi gloss lacquer.
