Chevy volt?
« on: July 17, 2011, 01:48:23 am »
Take a look at the report in the link.
Personally I think I'll pass. Read that as: They can't run fast enough to give me one!
Or I'll take 2 one to c**p in and the other to cover it up with. What a joke on the taxpayer. >:(

We call such cars "Hybrid Cars" here in Germany. A lot of manufacturers are coming up with them - always proclaiming they have "invented some". But if you take a closer look you'll figure out, that Toyota has the Prius out since years!

The system, the Chevy Volt uses is quite the same the Toyota Prius uses - and that works really well.
Opel (Vauxhall) comes up with a completely electric car, the Opel Ampera. The car is running electrically and if the battery is low a regular engine starts to reload the battery. First test say it's a well functioning system.

We have the Prius here in the states, some really like them. As far as I'm concerned they are too expensive for what you are getting. I'll pass.

Hmm, yeah, those cars are expensive now. I wonder how long it will take to make them cheaper. Some tax savings could make it more interesting.

Yes tax incentives that way the taxpayer picks up the tab!
How about someone making one that really works, for a reasonable price?
Nah that wouldn't work would it? I wonder how Henry Ford would do it today? Of course he was a total failure.
Shut up Gabby!

If I want good fuel economy I will just buy a Volkswagon TDI Jetta and get 40+ MPG on diesel and the car is still cheaper than a hybrid.
