picture puzzles

those who have made picture puzzles..what thickness did you use most of the time? Steve used 1/4 on his dollar bill puzzle but that sime thick and is 1/8 to thin? should a person plane a 1/4 down  a little?

I prefer to use 1/4" baltic birch.  It is durable and cuts well.  The 1/8 also works but care needs to be taken not to break the tabs off when assembling and disassembling.

I prefer 1/4"  It is more durable than 1/8" .  I usually use 1/4" poplar 5 ply for jigsaw style puzzles.  It seems to saw/cut better and does not use blades as fast as Oak for example.   I would not recommend planing down plywood.  You will end up with a mess.

I use 1/4" plywood too.  I would be afraid that the small locks might break with 1/8".
