rough cut on 1" maple

Hey!
I made some cuts this evening on some mighty fine 1" maple.
Turns out the cuts are pretty rough. I used a FD-SR5 which I considered to be just big enough. The cutting itself was fine, but the result is not really pretty.
Is it the wood? Did I miss on the blade selection?

Hey Torsten, I would think your blade selection was good. What speed were you running you blade? Did you use any packing tape?

Maple seems to have a tendency to tear for me as well. I see the same fibers when cutting it.

Junk is something you've kept for years and throw away three weeks before you need it.

I just cut even thinner maple and I see the same thing. To me your cuts look good because I don't see any burn marks!
Good job.

OK, so I'll take that as a lesson learned.
The maple wood is quite soft, this might be the result. I'll try that cutting on some beech wood I have here (3/4").
Dan, I have my new Hegner running, which has no speed control. Works fine so far.

I have tried many different blades on different thickness maple and I always end up with the fuzz on the back. The fier the blade the less amount of fuzz though.
