Make t-knob into round knob
« on: March 15, 2011, 06:49:51 pm »
f you have a knob like on the DeWalt and Excalibur you can take a small round tube like i piece off a medicine bottle and cast a round knob. You can get casting resin at hobby stores. A round knob is a lot easier to use. After market round knobs are costly. Just cut a small length of the tube, use car wax with carnuba wax in it as a release agent. Then hot glue it to a piece of plexiglass and put knob in it and pour resin just to cover black knob. Also you can grind knob down on both ends if you want a smaller round knob.

Neat idea.  You are right, the aftermarket knobs are very expensive.

I make mine out of scrap wood on the scroll saw.  Draw a circle the size you want, drill 8 holes then cut between the holes,  add a hole in center for a pronged t-nut.Your oly cost is price of the t-nut.
