Working on an idea
« on: June 03, 2011, 11:03:13 am »
Am trying to get my sister back into painting.  Thought we could combine crafts and come up with something different.  She painted the scene on sheet canvas and I attached it to a backer board.  I cut out the wolf and framed it like a shadow box  (left one side open to possibly add a dim light).
Do you think this is worth pursuing ???  If so, I will see if I can't get her off her a$$ to do some other painting for me.  If not I'll just go back to my little world and do what I want !!!

That looks really good. I like the layered look. The painting is beautiful. I think it would look good with a dim light added to it.

Very cool idea.  You could go even further and do it in several additional layers such as one for the sky and moon, one for the mountains, one for the wolf.  Then she can do the highlighting and details on the different layers.  Just an idea though.

Something like that would be great in a gallery setting.

Very nice work, both of you!

Thanks for your comments. I will tell her tomorrow that the idea is well received and see if she won't commit to getting back into painting .... she does beautiful work, but like us, she is her worst critic.

Those just might sell, the idea to add more layers would actually end up as a diorama of sorts, there are a bunch of options as to how simple or complex you would want to make it. Of course if it's too complex the time involved making it would go up. I'd say give it a try sure couldn't hurt.
