The Good Old Days.

I felt I should point out that the good old days were often characterized by tolerance and understanding in the workplace.

In fact I refer to an incident which happened here in Australia in the dim distant past. At that time the Federal Government owned the telephone network which was managed by a legendary government body called Telecom. (In those days to get a single phone wall plug changed to a double phone plug cost a weeks wages, took two trucks, three men and a screwdriver. And during the job they usually had a morning tea break so the whole thing took an hour and a half.  But I digress.)

One little old lady wrote to the Head of Telecom and complained about the foul language being used by the phone line technicians working nearby. The matter was investigated, and in due course the lady received a reply. It seemed that she referred to an incident which occurred a couple of weeks previously, in which an apprentice who was working on a line at the top of a pole dropped his hammer which hit the Foreman who was standing below.

The lady was assured that there had been no foul language used, in fact what the Foreman had said was "Really William you should learn to be more careful".

Sometimes I miss the good old days.

I miss somethings about the good old days, but not all. Just think, we wouldn't have computers and this forum. On the other hand I wouldn't have to hear any more about that darn duct tape crap.  8)
