Scroll Saw Stand - more weight to eliminate vibrations?

Hey!
My scroll saw is vibrating far to much. It makes small pattern even more difficult.

I'm wondering if adding more weight to my scroll saw stand would eliminate (or at least decrease) those vibrations.
I could add 1-2 paving stones in the bottom area.

Would this make scrolling noisier for me (or other people in the house)? How about adding some foam underneath the stand?

Hi Thorsten, das gleiche Problem hatte ich auch gehabt, und es ist nicht einfach es weg zubekommen. Das liegt an der resonazfrequenz von Maschine und Tisch ( sagt mein Bruder ) am besten du stellt deine Maschiene auf ein Wasbetonplatte und schraubst sie darauf fest unter die Waschbetonplatte kannst du noch ein Steropoorplatte legen, die nimmt auch noch schwingungen auf.

Seit dem ich eine Dremel habe, ist das viel, viel besser. Sie hat ein eigengewicht von 25 KG.

Hoffe ich konnte dir etwas helfen.

Fruit flies like banana - time flies like an arrow!

I did some work at the Kindergarten - and brought home some big paving stones (each 20kg).
3 of them are now part of my scroll saw stand - making it really heavy.
Short test looks quit good.

So you recommend another scroll saw? I figured out, there are 2 different systems on the market: the ones with a long upper arm (blade to be streched at rear end of saw) and the one with the tiny upper arm. Right now i have a saw with the long upper arm.

Any recommendations for another saw, not too expensive?

How fast are you running your saw?  I have a square of carpet padding under each leg to help protect the floor.

On my old saw I used 1/2" plywood and carpet as a cushion and sandwiched it between the saw base and stand. I just cut the outline of the base of the saw on the ply then I cut out the carpet and put the carpet face- down on the plywood and placed the saw on top of the carpet and bolted it to the stand. That really helped with vibration as long as your stand is stable. Another thing to check ,if you haven't already, is to make sure all of the bolts on your saw arms are tight. That was another problem I had with that saw.
A saw that you might want to check out is Porter Cable pcb370ss. It's under $200. ($189.00 I think) I bought one last september and it's not a bad saw for the money. The only thing I don't care for is the blower is weak. The vibration is very low compaired to other saws I've had and blade changes are fairly easy. It comes with a stand but I mounted it to a table I made so I'm not sure how good the stand is. For now you can only get them at Lowes but from what I heard other stores will be able to sell them soon.

Hey Judy!

Well - it's a digital saw - I can switch it on and off 

As I figured out by now, I need to deal with it and get another, more advanced saw when I want to do more fragile patterns.
