DW,
Vice nice work..... Is there a "plug" in the middle to extract the coins?
If so, how does it attach so it stays in? Is there a pattern or did
you just draw it and cut?

thanks,
Mike

The plug is a short piece of 1 1/2 inch dowel rod with a 1/4 in. hole drilled for cross piece of 1/4 in dowel rod going through it for "ears" to hold it in place.  I cut the 1 1/2 inch hole for the plug in the bottom with a hole saw then cut two rectangular holes so that the "ears" of the plug will go through to the inside of the bank.  A Piece of 1/8 inch thick 2 inch long ply was used on the back side to stop the plug from going into the bank and to give the user something to turn with.  Hope this explanation helps.  As for the pattern for the hole I located were I wanted to put it and used a hole saw to cut the 1 1/2 inch hole the rest was done by using the plug and tracing the position of the ears ( on the inside of the bank ).  I uploaded a picture of the type of arrangement I use on the banks.

I know someone who would want one of those. She has an enormous African snail for a pet.
