First Craft Fair!
« on: December 05, 2010, 10:59:36 pm »
Saturday was my first craft fair. Since I have been reading about others experiences and only really making saw dust since September, I did not have high hopes. Just doing it for the experience and to meet people and see what happens.

It was a small school craft fair only 12-15 vendors plus the school tables for food and a dollar and up table for gifts and such.

I figure I did okay. My table spot cost $25 and I made $54.75 so a $29.75 profit. Half were from sales and the other half pre-paid orders. The school PTC saw an ornament I did with the school name and are very interested in some how putting it to use!

Later we went to my sons high school football banquet where I was going to put out school related items I had done. They let me put out everything and I did $85 in sales and pre-paid orders! Whew a long day! But gratifying.

As with others, lots of ooohs and aaahhs also. Pics coming on my blog page.

It will get better, you don't get a lot from small school fairs but you have to start some where, and at least you had some sales and as long as you are happy with that there is no more to say

That's not bad for your first show!  I try to have a couple of team mascot things at my table for the town I am showing in, but I have got stuck a couple of times.

Well, I went to your blog and if that is all the inventory yo9u had at the show, you did very well indeed.  Not criticizing, just saying.  I had 10 times the volume you had and not many more sales than you.  Good for you.  I enjoyed reading your blog as well.  Continue to have fun!

Thanks for the comments!

I did have a good time and it was a learning experience over all. I probably should have had more stuff (you are right Dunk) no offense taken. But I had things come up during my preparation time that became more important at the time, like plumbing jobs and taking time for others. So I knew I did not have a lot of items, around 70. So live and learn and go on from there.

I went to my bank today to set up an account to use with paypal and the guy who got me all set up bought $27 worth! Ya never know! :o
