Any tricks to reduce blade slipping? Some blades seem to stay put while other come loose no matter how tight I try to get the jaws.

try sanding the ends a little. many blades have a little oil left on them from being muanufatured and the sanding will remove the oil and give a slight rough surface for the blade clamps to hold onto.

I wipe the blade ends with 91% isopropyl alcohol and also clean the blade clamps with it. Get in the drugstore.

Removes any oily residue.
