Treated wood?

I think I saw some one post about treated wood. Is that not good to use for scroll saw stuff. It seems the wood I collect happens to be mostly treated. I will re-use most of it for an outdoor building but just wondered about scrolling projects.

Treated wood contains chemicals to help prevent the wood from decay, fungus and from insects (termites). The older treated wood before 2003 had arsenic and chromium in it. I would not use it for scrolling for it could be hazardous to you health.

    I cut some treated wood some years back that had arsonic in it. Make me sick as a dog. Dave

Any time you cut treated wood you need to use a respirator and gloves. I would not cut it on a scroll saw!

don't build birdhouses out of  it. bad for the birds

I use treated wood and landscape timbers for alot of outside projects.  Make sure you wear a dust mask, It will make you sick.  I found that out the hard way.  Invest in some nicer wood for your scroll projects.  The difference is staggering.

It seems (treated wood) to follow me home! I can't let good wood be thrown away. I just picked up a whole bunch of fencing in great shape after voting. It was also garbage day. (is there something to that?) The Lady said they "HAD to tear down a fence". It is like new!

I do buy most of my wood for scrolling.

I just found an old bed frame, head, foot, and sides made of solid oak in the trash the other day. Side rails are 2" thick. First time I ever found any good wood in the trash.
