GB I really enjoyed reading your posts about your first show.  Started my day off with a smile, thinking about your sale of TWO "earrings, and his grandmother.

I was impressed with your pictures, the quantity of your offerings and their quality.  Looked great from here.  And I agree with others that you can't use the results of a small show to judge what others will offer... but it gave you a chance to test the water, so to speak.

Makes me realize how slow I am with my scrolling.  I've only made 10 or 12 items since I've started, but I can see improvement in my ability as I go.  Don't think I'll ever be in a show, however.  Unless of course my friends and relatives tire of my wood gifts.  Maybe then.

I've been having the same problem GB.  Paid $150 for a two day show that was supposed to be the biggest and best of the season.  Crowds were small, sales were lousy and I did not make my space fee back in TWO DAYS.  Gave up a beautiful weekend for it.  I'm probably gonna sit out the bazaar season this month.  May get into one in the first couple of weeks of December but I am damn discouraged. I had a good display, ornaments, word art, puzzles, scrolled crosses, and plaques.  If I had made any kind of a sale for all the compliments I got on my work, I'd be able to retire! One good thing came out of it though.  A guy a met there wants me to scroll a pattern into his Bird house entrances.  Could be a mass production type of thing.  Ya just never know.

I don't do craft shows, flea markets, church bazaars etc. I am thankful I don't have to with all the horror stories I have herd about them.  8)

Well, GB, at least you'll be playing with house money at the band boosters sale.  Nothing to lose but your time (not to imply your time isn't worth anything).

Your items looked good.  Hopefully you'll have better luck with the next one.

I do have to ask though.  What are those paddle things with the little cages on them?  I wince slightly as I ask because I have a feeling there is a pun coming my way!

Why Becky...I wouldn't think of making light of such a serious question!

Those are  "Tail Prop Suet Feeders"

The forum software may mess this up but when the larger species of Woodpeckers, Pileated and Red Belly, etc. feed they do so in an upright position clinging to the bark of the tree. While doing so they sort of tuck their tail down and 'prop' themselves against the tree to give themselves a bit better leverage. This is also true of Bluejays.

Of course I could have just called them "P#$%#r Props" and left you 'hanging'!

I never really wanted to grow up....All I wanted was to be able to reach the cookie jar...and play with my DW 788

Heh, yes, I can imagine why you thought the forum software might have had trouble with that, lol.

No, I just thought it was one of those joke projects you see around and was just wincing to imagine what the punchline might be.   :)

So I've learned two things here tonight - and all in the same thread!

I am glad you asked that question Becky. I thought about asking but I to figured GB had some pun up his sleeve. Never heard of  "Tail Prop Suet Feeders" either.  8)
