Minwax Polyshades One Step Stain & Polyurethane
« on: October 12, 2010, 06:28:14 pm »
Good Day Folks?

Anyone use Minwax Polyshades One Step Stain & Polyurethane?  If so, how did it work out for you? Any tips you can provide when using this product?  I got a free can of the pecan, but have not used it yet.

Thanks in advance,

Steven

WHAT A MESS I MADE WITH IT!!!!!  I use the regular minwax all the time as a dip, so I thought it might be the same.  I dipped and got sticky mess.  It would probably just fine brushed on.

I used it once. Very hard to apply without leaving a mess. It may be OK for small projects such as scroll saw projects but would not use for furniture.

I was told by a salesman not to apply more than 2 coats or you will have trouble.  After the second coat, use clear poly.

I used it years ago on a large hopechest made from pine.  I dont remember how many coats I used, but it turned out pretty nice.  I used cheese clothe to apply it.

I have also used it on some small projects. It was ok but I wouldn't buy it again.  8)
