Books

Went to the public library the other day for some pattern books on scroll sawing and all they had out of 100,000 plus books in the whole of wellington were 2 and I had to order them in so when I eventually got them they were years old and of not much use, I have since ordered 2 from Fishpond and they should be here soon

Check out Half.com

There are TONS of scrollsaw books, a lot for under a buck with $3.99 shipping.  Some of the books were brand new.  If you're lucky,  you can find a couple at one seller and get a break on shipping.  Just play around with your search terms.  Scrollsaw  Scroll saw Jig saw, etc.

half.com is an Ebay company.  All the transactions I have done (and unfortunately I've probably done to many) have been great.  Only once did I have an issue, my wife bought software and they shipped her the wrong one, but the seller fixed it all on her dime.

Over the years I've probably bought 20+ books, 3 or 4 movies, and a bunch of PC software. (my daughters got hooked on Nancy Drew PC games, and with over 20 games in the series at $20 a pop... I've had to find a cheaper/better way of feeding their habit...)

I have had a few great scores, saw a book that caught my eye but was $29 at a large bookstore, found it new on half for $10 delivered.

Shipping can add up if you buy from multiple sellers, so just keep that in mind.  Some sellers will adjust shipping costs if you purchase multiple items from them.

I use Amazon to see if the book is on sale, and I use http://www.addall.com/ to do price checks.  Check it out.

Merlin,

It's up to each seller.  Find a book you like, there will be a seller listed.  You'll have to contact them to find out if they'll ship overseas.

RE: eBay. I've bought and sold about 1500 items on eBay with very few problems. I stay away from new sellers without much feedback and those that make their money through shipping charges. There's a whole lot of honest people out there selling as a first or second income in this economy.

I have never bought or sold anything on eBay. If you sell you have to pay a percentage to them.  8)

I sometimes find good deals on overstock.com. I have purchased many items from them, and never had an issue.  I tested their customer service once, just to see what it was like, I would give it an A+ - they were very friendly and answered all my questions.
