It is an Independent League team that would be about the "A" level of a major league affiliate.
Players must be 18 at the start of the season and may not start a season after their 27th birthday.
Very few of these kids ever make it to the big dance but it does happen. We have three 'graduates' now playing in the majors or hi-minors the best of which is a reliever for the Anaheim Angels.
It is FUN to watch guys play ball for basically the sheer love of playing. They only make about $850 a month during the season so local families "sponsor" them giving shelter, meals, laundry, etc.
Players here are from as far away as Hawaii with several from California.
Playing ball is what they want to do...NOT become multi-billionaires!
