Where can I buy Key Chains?
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:27:48 pm »
I liked Steve's recent Football and Basketball Jersey Keychains. I have been searching via google and can not come up with a wholesaler that has just the chain and a split ring. I see plenty of split rings but when in google I key in "Key Chains"or "Key Chain Crafts" I can not come up with any.

Can you help?

I buy mine at the local ACE hardwear store. They have  4 different sizes and sell the chain by the foot. They have the split connectors in the same sizes too and they are sold by the piece.
You might find them cheaper elswhere like Hoby Lobbyor Lowes or Home Depot too. The advantage to local buying....NO SHIPPING CHARGES.

Try your local "Michael's", Tandy Leathercraft or any store that sell BEADS and bead jewelry supplies.

For HEAVY DUTY KEY CHAINS check your local hardware store for 'Beaded Bathtub Chain' as used on old fashioned bathtub 'stoppers'!

Thanks for the suggestion of Home Depot. I didn't even think about them. This morning I found 4" key chains on eBay. I put a bid in for them.

I bought 3 at our local A.C.Moore ( a store similar to Michael'). There price was 74 cents plus 6% tax. Let's round it off to 78 cents. That's 26 cents apiece.
Earlier this morning, I bought 100 off of eBay for $8.99 with no tax and no shipping fee. Rounding, that's 9 cents each.

If I don't use them, I have other friends who are into scroll sawing. I'm sure they would be interested.

Home Depot and Lowes sell them in the lighting department as pull chains for ceiling fans.  You can buy them cheap and they also sell the links.  You can cut them to whatever size you like.

Look at Michaels in the leather section. They only order 3 packages at a time so they are out of stock often. Just ask and they will order them. They carry 2 sizes of rings also.
