Hi,
I have been wanting to try this project for awhile, but I have never done this type of scrolling before. Is this segmentation or intarsia and what is the difference. And is this project to difficult for a first time project. Here is the link.

Thanks for your help. Mark

Hey boxmaker. This is a project you would end up using your table saw. The pieces are ripped and then mitered on a table saw. However it might be done as Intarsia. I have a similar pattern that I never got around to because I was afraid of all the miters. I now have a Dubby sled that makes perfect miters every time!

Thanks for the response Dgman, I have a similar miter thing from Incra, I also have a chop saw and a table saw. I guess I will have to order the pattern and see what method they use.
Thanks again Mark

I have the left side only. But it would be nice to have the right side too!

Boxmaker - Segmentation uses only one type of wood. The pieces are cut and then painted or stained and reassembled. Intarsia pieces are cut from a variety of woods or different shades of the same wood and then shaped and sanded and then assembled into the pattern. Being there is no shaping done here I also would consider this a form of marquetry. Good luck. Looks like an interesting and fun pattern.

Thanks everyone, EclipseScroller, thanks for the explanation of the two. The project looks nice and intimidating as well. I think I might read up on Marquetry and segmentation and try something small first.
Thanks again Mark
