Something Different - Bots
« on: March 22, 2017, 07:39:03 pm »
I showed this on Scroll Saw Village, but there are some here that do not go there, and it was so much fun I thought I would share them here.  This is a first for me.  I have been wanting, for a long time to make a wooden geared clock. But, not sure I could do it.  While looking at plans a while back on the internet I came across Clayton Boyer's site.  He has plans for three "Bot" (robots).  They looked like a lot of fun to try to build and I thought they would give me some indication of how difficult it is to cut gears.  Here is where I found them:  http://www.lisaboyer.com/Claytonsite/robotlaboratory.htm

This is the first one complete that I made:

and here is a short video of it "CB Walking Bot" walking;

I have the other two all cut and ready to start assembly this weekend.  This is one of my most fun project.  I now have the first one trained to go to frig and get me a beer! ;D

I have more confidence now that I may be able to make a clock.

Very nicely done.  That looks like it took a lot of work to get running correctly.  Thanks for sharing this with us.

I made one of Clayton Boyer's clocks. It wasn't all that hard to cut out or even assemble but, making it keep time was an exercise in SUPER frustration!
I got it to keep good time for about 5 days and then something would go wrong. It was in my shop and I think temp. and humidity had a lot to do with it.

It was suppose to be mounted on a wall but, I tried to put it on a stand so maybe that had something to do with it.
Anyway, now it is in the basement in parts and pieces. :)

Cool looking clock.  I really want to give one a try.
