BMW R1200 GS Adventure Intarsia

Hi,
I have finally finished the second of two BMW's for a customer in Ireland after 8wks its driven me mad but glad its done.
Its made from Beech/Walnut/Oak and Sycamore and measures 18" x 16" x 11/2", its actually got nearly 200 tiny pieces including the various spacers that don't seen and also if you look close its got real metal bolts which are sections of nails (as is the mirror arm) I used the micro lathe to make a few parts like the handlebar grips turned from walnut. The main reason its taken so long was the tiny pieces of beech were over an inch thick and the amount of pressure involved in gripping them while cutting has aggravated my hands to a point where I cannot even hold my pen again Grrrrrrrrrrrrr normally I use the molegrips to hold them but due to the odd shapes/angles they weren't any use.
I have an appointment with a nerve/bone specialist this Sunday (odd day for hospital appointments?) and I'm hoping they will give me a steroid injection into the joints to ease the pain so i can get on with my work, last time I saw the specialist he suggested I try and train my right hand to do what my left hand used to do........ he obviously didn't read my medical notes as its perfectly clear that i have injured BOTH hand/arms lol  #-o .
Anyway enough of me waffling lol hope ya like it and make the most of it as from now on its LOTS of wildlife stuff and no more bikes for now.
Cheers
Brian

Hi,
To see the photo a bit bigger you click on the picture, as for the patterns they are my own designs (all my motorcycle intarsias are) I work from photos of customers bikes so you cannot buy them anywhere... they are also one off's I make for customers so cannot sell copies of them sorry

Cheers
Brian
