new to scroll sawing

Hi my name is john and i am very happy to be here. I am brand spanking new to this .
I am a retired truck driver just turned 70 the 17 of this month.Never used a scroll saw before in my life.
So i have been looking around for one and what i found was a sears one that meets my money.
I would like to learn every thing i can about it so here i am.Asking for advice on it.I dont know where to start
and what i want to make yet.
My wife is going to buy me the scroll saw from sears so i should have it by wed hope i like it.

Welcome to an addictive hobby.  Do some research to learn some of the many different things that can be done using a scroll saw.  Including:  Intarsia, segmentation, fretwork, compound cutting, toy making, bowl making, double bevel inlay, scroll saw box making, puzzle making, and lettering for signs and plaques.  Lots of things to make.

Welcome to the forum and welcome to the hobby.  There's a lot of ground to cover when there is such a blank canvas to work with.  My suggestion is to look for this book;

It will give you answers to many of the questions you probably haven't thought of yet, plus practical exercises to develop your skills and some patterns to hone them.  It's a great resource for the beginner.
