Hi,
Here's my latest Intarsia, I used to have one similar so thought i'd give it a go.
I used Beech and Walnut (recycled Charity shop wooden items... this time a bread bin and a magazine rack total cost ?3.00
)
I made my own pattern from a keyring I had and there are 210 individual pieces (Phew) many were approx 5mm x 3mm so pretty fiddly to do, I also used spacers to add depth to the engine casings etc. The total size is 15" x 12" x 1" and has a very high gloss finish.
I used various techniques to make it like using pliers to hold the tiny pieces while cutting and sanding and as usual had my fair share of missing pieces which went flying across the workshop!
one new idea I tried was to stick the tiny bits onto a piece of ply and shape using the Dremel and it worked really well.
I am just making a new pattern for another bike..... this time a Honda Goldwing 1800 of similar size so plenty of detail in store.
Hope ya like it
Cheers
Brian
