Didn't want to steal anothers thread on Hold down Clamps but I think this is the clamp he is referring to.
I have used is clamp with great success, on the second link there another clamp that I will be making soon time permitting.

Thats it Merlin I just found the image on the net but had no idea where it came from,that is a far better explanation of the design than mine
