Wood Burning.

Hey everybody. I know Its a Old Time thing but I wanted To try something new just to get away from painting and drawing from time to time, so Today I was at Wal Mart and saw this wood burning tool, and at first I said no I don't think I need that but then I went for round 2 and ended up buying it because It was only cheap and it came with 4 different Tips. So anyway's thought I'd give it a try and see what happens I have been looking at a few videos and I think I might enjoy doing some wood burning. I know It shouldn't be to hard to work with but Like everything I'm sure there must be a few tips and Tricks. If anyone would like to fill me in a some info before I start something.

I also did see an extra to add
if you have your project you could try to burn bigger spot using hot sand

Hey Travis if you gets serious at it get yourself a dust mask that takes the filters.the smoke from that wll choke you right up.

just bought myself the 3M 7503 a couple of weeks ago.
same as the Stanley, have filters for dust and spray painting.

I like wood burning.  The crackle and pop of the wood and the sparks and smoke going up and the warm of the hands, ahhh, very nice.  Unintentionally, that applies to my wood burning with a tool also.  I do a little to add to my cuttings but I could never find a fireproof pattern to try it on a major picture.  But I do like the smell of cedar toasting in the warmth.  Have fun.

i have a tip.. to burn wood... 

on a cold or a cool day  i go outside and get bunch of wood together and start a fire. the warm heat feels nice. Sometimes the smoke blows on ya but no problem get in the head of the line like at walmart lol.  hmm that was two tips i guess you got a free one from me lol

I sometimes use woodburning techniques to outline or highlight lines on my scroll saw efforts.  I have to be careful or else the smoke sets off the smoke alarm I have in my workshop.  It's always something!!
