Cutting Board

I know this was not done by scroll saw. It was however done completely without the use of a table saw as I do not own one. I used a 9" bandsaw, hand plane, a thicknesser and router. This cutting board was a commission piece for a lady. She wanted an 18 x 24 inch cutting board, so that is what I made her. The woods used are Maple and Sapel. I sanded it to 400 grit and then treated it to 4 coats of mineral oil ( butcher block oil ) and then a bees wax and butcher block oil mix for the final coating. The board ended up just a 32nd under 1 inch thick.

Nice looking cutting board, DW. Not long back the wife was asking about a cutting board, so I bought her a plastic one.

Nice work, looks good. Love the contrasted wood. Never heard of Sapel, but I like how it rhymes with Maple.

Just noticed that I spelled Sapel wrong.. it should be Sapele. Here is the information on it.
