I finally got to try cutting the Model A. This is on a piece of 1/4" poplar, 5.25" x 11". My nephew borrowed my heat gun to strip some paint at his house, so I put the cutting in the microwave to soften the glue & get the pattern off. The poplar actually burned in the microwave (both of those burn marks go right through the wood and show up on front and back). Never saw that before. I guess I'll call them "added detail".

Here's also a new gray & red copy of the pattern that might be a little easier to cut. The blade on black was hard to see.

Notice the reflection piece on the door. It is held on by a pretty slim bridge. Luckily the grain was running that direction or it might not have made it. I glued the back on pretty quick.

Nice job on cutting that Ray. If you find that you don't like the additional character of the burn marks, you could cut around the exterior of the vehicle like GrayBeard does on his stuff. Like this...

Very nice work Ray.  (I think youneed to slow your cutting speed down a bit, that's two nice burn marks you have there  ::) ::) )

I actually had that GB method in mind, or maybe cut an oval around the car like the Ford logo. I'll post if I do something like that.

Another awesome project.  I just found I really nice Model A pattern that I plan on giving a try.  I have to wait...I'm in search of tiny drill bits at the moment.  Haste makes waste and I've broken the last on my tiny drill bits.

Nice work Ray! That would be cool if it made an "even burn" and fade the whole piece a little bit. I rather like the burn spots in it.

Nice job Ray.   Microwave oven art..     I was watching the gentleman that decorates wooden bracelets with electricity.     I was shocked when I ran into a lady wearing one of his bracelets.   It seems that she was at one of his shows and bought it there.  Pretty neat.
