Knife#2 for the June 1 sale
« on: May 09, 2013, 02:54:02 pm »
Here's the 2nd of 3 knives in the works for June 1. This one has an Indonesian Longan Berry (Rambutan) handle with brass accents. The scale were ripped from a pen blank I had in the drawer.

Very pretty knife.  I like the wood used for the handle.  Thanks for sharing this with us.

It's a little funny, but the wood is very rich and has some swirls, looks a little like the cheesy plastic handles on sheet metal dinnerware. But the feel of the wood and the weight of the blade is altogether different. Very smooth and hard, with a good weight in the hand. I like it.

Another great job E.!!!! Once I attach the first scale and it dries I use the scroll saw to profile the scale to the tang.  I can get a nice clean profile that way and sure helps when it comes to sanding it on the vertical sander.  Then attach the second sale, profile that one, pin it and start the finishing process,

You're on your way E.!!!!  Great job!!!!!  I have one on my table of that same knife made with Yellowheart, it really looks nice with the 8 brass pins,
