Ribbon and Bowx Jewelry Box
« on: April 11, 2013, 07:38:49 am »
I decided to make another box with bows and ribbons for my craft fair coming up on April 28th. The bows and ribbons are made from Aspen, Mahogany and Red and Yellow veneers. The box is made from Walnut.

Thanks for Lookin'

excellent work Tommy, the box looks fantastic. What finish did you put on it? What sort of asking price are you going to put on it?

Thank you very much for your kind words!  On this piece is sprayed it with Shellac then 3 coats of Deft Lacquer spray.  Often the first coat is Lemon Oil however, it does slightly give the wood a warm golden glow.  I didn't use the lemon oil on this because I wanted the "whiteness"  of the beautiful Aspen to pop on the bows and ribbons.

I am probably going to price it somewhere at the Moon and see where it goes.  I'm thinking $70.00, if nobody buys it, it won't hurt my feelings.  I like it and won't have to part with it!  :)  If somebody wants it at the craft fair they are going to have to pay my price on this piece.  It's just to difficult and very time consuming to make to let it go for any cheaper!

Very nice work.  I believe I have seen similar items closer to the 100-120 range - and selling.

Thanks for sharing this and good luck.

Beautiful box Tommy, stuff like this should draw folks attention at your craft fair.

Tommy, It's worth every dollar at that price if not more. It's excellent workmanship.
