Mug

This mug is similar to the one Steve Good designed.  Cut from pine.  Since my scroll saw is in the shop I had to use an old Duncan ( made in 1954 ) jigsaw.

Very nice. Like the pine, has a good old country look to it. I made one like Steve Good's and had it on a cabinet. My wife must not have liked it cause it fell off the cabinet and broke. =( oh well. I enjoyed it while I could. Guess now I can cut another piece and fix it.

I do both.  Some of my mugs I have used and some I have turned into pencil and pen holders or planters.  If you are going to drink from them you should put a good waterproof finish on it like a poly or spar varnish.  Remember to let it fully cure ( if you can smell it it is NOT cured ) and then hand wash it after it is cured to ensure that there is no oils or things like that on the surface.
