Compound Cut Banana
« on: March 30, 2013, 08:11:04 pm »
This pattern produces a passable but small banana (I limited the height to 2" so it would fit in the saw). It's cut from a scrap of 2x4 cut down to 2" x 1.5" x 5" long. I guess you could scale it up and cut on a bandsaw.

It might be a fun project to make a "bunch" for some kids to paint, or just to put in a small scroll cut bowl or basket. Attach the pattern, cut through the 1.5" dimension, tape it back together, then cut through the 2" dimension. Watch your fingers under the top blade clamp - it comes close. Then a little hand sanding to take the edges off.

That is really amazing!  I would never have thought that could be made on a scroll saw.  So many creative people in this forum.  This project is going on my "to do list."

Neat!  Never thought of a banana from a scrollsaw.  It does have its a-peal!
