Seagull Pattern help
« on: March 18, 2013, 06:12:08 am »
Hi all the pattern designers.

I have a request for a Seagull for the side of a house.
If one can be designed, could it be in sections a bit like intarsia so I can then cut it very large.

Three drawings of seagulls can be found by clicking on the link below.

Thanks

Merlin, How big do you need? If this is OK, I can make it any size you need.

Don thanks for that, not quite what I had in mind.. may be I not explained clearly.
I try it this way.

Take the bird landing the body with head and left wing as one piece, the Right wing as another, and the Tail and feet as another piece, if all that mombo jumbo can be understood. :P ;D

The top bird wood be a little harder to do seeing as the right is coming from the center of the back.
May-be the Head and body as one, left and right wings as the other two and the Tail section with feet as the fourth.

That way when it is cut it will on my saw and then screwed to the wall in sections and from the road will hopefully look like one piece.

Size is no problem have software for that.

Cheers ***Merlin***

Merlin - Judy Gale Roberts has a nice flying seagull intarsia piece in her "Intarsia Workbook" page 42. The gull is heading left. The head, body, and left wing top are one piece, left wing bottom is another, right wing is behind and made from two pieces, and the legs and feet hang below. Looks like 9 pieces total. It might make a nice hanging if you scale the size up to fit your wall. The picture below is from her book web page at http://www.intarsia.com/Books.html.

That's it Don Ta very much, Is it possible to do the same for the other one in flight.

EIEIO:  thanks for that but I'm useless at Intarsia and this way is a little bit easier.

With great patterns like that, and your skill Merlin, the customer couldn't do anything else but like them.
