Scroll Saw Withdrawls

I am having scroll saw withdrawls! My Ex 21 broke this morning; the white tension lever ceased to stay up. I called Ray @ Seyco and he is sending me a new one; should arrive Tuesday. I felt lost without my saw so my wife said we could catch up on other things around the place to keep my mine busy. So, I took down about 200 ft of fencing, pulled up all the posts, and then picked up tree limbs and branches in the yard and part of the pasture! No telling what she has planned for tomorrow!? That lever better get here by Tuesday before she kills me! I need a "fix" already; starting to shake and getting nervous. Yep, scrolling is an addiction! HELP!

I'm addicted too! I don't mind going at least one day away though, that way I don't get tired of it. Deffinately like making saw dust though.

I feel for you Tony! Fortunately, I have a spare saw. I plan to give private lessons in my shop, so the spare saw will come in handy for that.

I too have missed2 saws but I am still having withdrawals at the moment, we were away for your2 weeks and we have Benin having a heat wave since we got back so it's too hot to go into the garage.  Next week is now looking any better.  Roll on winter.

Tony, there is a small adjuster screw just in front of the white lever, have you tried adjusting that as it is something to do with locking the lever in position.

Yea Keefie, I have tried that. In fact, when I talked to Ray, he told me how to adjust it while he waited on the phone, but it did not help. He said as much as I use it, about 30 hrs per week, it just will not last. The saw is one year old this month and he was surprised it lasted this long. He suggested changing out the lever and the set screws about every 6 months if I continued production sawing. He has tried to get the Excalibur engineers to change the grade of metal on the blade mechanism. They claim normal wear, but Ray says it should last longer. Of course he is replacing at no charge. Otherwise, I would be a little upset. Maybe the company will listen to Ray; he know his stuff!

Well now you will have to put your saw under lock and key as you may find out it breaks down a lot in the future!

I too am having withdraws, but a whole different reason.
My saw is fine. I started an intricate clock yesterday and am about half way done, but I have a head cold and dummies infection setting in.
Have been at the saw 5 or 6 times today, each time I turn it on, I have about 10 minutes till my head is pounding and I have to stop.
And I really wanted to get that clock done this weekend.

Tony, I had the same problem with my EX21 and Ray sent a new lever, slightly modified from the original.. works great now.

But if the honeydo list and withdrawals are getting to you, you can always wrap a couple loops of a heavy rubber band around the arm and over the lever to hold it down.  That's what Ray recommended I do.  I worked, but I wouldn't want to do that too long!
