That's one nice "piece of wood". I'm new here so I'll ask:
- did you slightly angle the blade so the raised pieces slide up and fill the kerf?
- Did you place fillers behind the raised parts or are they glued to the sunken parts (or both)?
- I don't see any pilot holes. How did you hide those?
Thanks.
I tilt the table between 3 and 5 degrees depending on the thickness of the wood.
Also have to tilt the table of the drill press, but be careful. watch real well which direction you have to drill/saw
clockwise or counterclockwise. you might make a mistake and drill 180 degrees the wrong way.....
I use .68 or .71 drills.
after sawing I raise the parts and mark the line with a pencil.
then I will carefully sand the raised parts above the marked line so I don't see the drill hole there anymore.
after all is glued, I take a nail with a drop of glue on the tip and fill the pilot hole.
then I put on sawdust of the same wood, press it with the nail and within a minute or so I remove the unnecessary sawdust carefully.
a little sanding and no more drill hole..... (well almost)
I add some pictures with the pilot holes and a close up.
hope this will help you.
