I'm always getting emails and papers on HF. I love that store!  I have wanted to try turning, but it isn't in the budget for now and my space is limited in my shop. Thanks for the ad

Sorry about that, some one else posted another lathe and thought it was a good deal. He has since removed the post.

Looks like a nice mini lathe and the price is O/K but I would like to see it running before I would buy.
These small lathes are great if you are only turning small stuff and they dont take up much room

It is probably the best lathe out there for 142.50.  If it lacks power, just cut slower.  If the choice it this lathe or no lathe, I vote for this lathe.

I've found that turning is all about the tools you use.   Quality tools, sharp tools are key.     So long as the lathe is able to turn wood at the correct speed, and do so without unwanted movement.....     A $300 lathe may and I say MAY last longer, but in the end, it does the same thing as a 140 lathe..  Turns your work..

Unlike many tools, it's the accessories (cutting tools) that will hurt your wallet the most..    I personally use the Carbide tipped tools, as they seem super easy to use.    Best of luck with your new project.

As I have said I would like to see it running the tail stock may not line up with the head stock and if it doesn't it is not much good to any one, as far as the power of the motor just use smaller gouges for the turning and keep them sharp

THANX to those who responded.... I only have 4 days to decide....goes off sale. I did do a little more research on rockler and looks like a clone unit they have..plus they sell an extension for it for 75.00. I may check to see if it fits the HF unit if I do get one. youtube has videos so I can get a good view of the lathes and extension. I guess i can always return the extension if it won't fit.

I just bought the #95607 HF lathe. It's a smaller lathe. For pen/light duty turning, works great. I also have a large old Craftsman lathe, but it's out in the garage. Just way too cold to work out there! LOL!
