Palm wood?

Anyone use Palm tree wood?

Wondering how it would work on a scroll saw and effects of time..darkening, yellowing etc.

Although I've never tried using it, I did think about it a few years ago when they cut down Three large Palms next door. I kept one large slab for about six months and when I got tired of seeing it alongside the house I chopped it up and threw it away.

Hmmm, I live in Arizona. We have our share of palm trees here. I see them cut down quite often, but the wood looks pretty bad for working with. Personally I dont think it would be good for scrolling. But if you try it and it turns out good let me know.

Was thinking for intarsia pieces more than general scrolling projects.
I know of a chainsaw carver that uses alot of it. Seems like a good wood.
Tons of them around, will slab one up and let you know how it turns out after it dries awhile.

Yes, let us know. All I know is the wood is extremely porous, not sure how it will work for you. Look forward to your report on how it works.
