My good friends father served on the USS Wasp. Hes now 83 and active. My friend brought his father up from New York where he lives to visit him here in Rhinelander, Wis. My friend had an appointment at the V.A. in Iron Mountain Michigan so he took his dad with him. When my friend went to his appointment his dad sat down in the waiting room. Just as he sat down the guy across from him asked him how was doing and called him by name. My friends father said am I supposed to know you. The gentleman said you should; we served on the USS Wasp together. When I heard that I could not believe all the factors of time and space coming together.
My buddy said that his Dad has USS Wasp and the year on his car license plates. He got stopped by a New York Cop who asked him about the plates and then followed with maybe you knew my dad he served on the Wasp. He knew his Dad very well and the cop has been visiting him ever since.
I would like to cut him something in commemoration to hang on the wall. Hes a wonderful kind gentleman and has a spirited heart.
