gift card box
« on: December 22, 2012, 01:21:48 pm »
Hello,

This is a xmas gift I made for the inlaws. I used walnut for the body and douglas fir for the top and bottom. I then dipped it in tung oil and sprayed 3 coats of triple thick glaze for the finish. It came out nice, the only thing I did wrong is, it fits perfect one way but if you spin the top around 180, it doesn't fit as good. Need to figure out how not to do that the next time.  Always learning something on every project

Very nice card box, great idea. I have made several square/rectangle boxes and I can't get them to fit more than one way either. If I try to sand it so it fits the other way, it just gets loose and sloppy. I just put a little tab or notch to show whuch way it fits....
