need help finding the right size wood
« on: December 19, 2012, 11:05:21 pm »
Found some patterns of Christmas ornaments I would like to try as my first scroll saw project. The patterns call for 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" wood. What can I use for this?I got some 1 1/2" today and reduced the patterns and can make that work but would like to have the correct size for future projects.

Unless you have the tools to cut a larger size down, you may have a difficult time.  If you have a table saw you could always glue up a larger piece and then trim it down.

Scored all sorts of wood working tools at a rummage sale this fall CHEAP.Including a table saw.I wondered if they had glued them together but nothing was mentioned in the article about the wood except the size.

Thanks for the info.

Hey halfpint, do you have a woodworking store nearby? They may have turning stock in that size. Like Bill said, you can glue up thinner stock to make up what you need. Good luck!
