Never Know Who You Will Meet
« on: November 15, 2012, 08:31:49 pm »
I was driving around in Mesa, AZ making my hospice pharmacy deliveries when I came upon a huge yard sale. Well, I love them there things, so I stopped to browse. They had a Skil Scroll Saw for sale for $50. Sure wish I had the money. Well one thing led to another and the guy running the sale told me his neighbor across the street did some scroll work. It so happened that he was working in his garage at that time. So I went on over and introduced myself. (I'm not a bit shy) He was more than happy to show me his shop and his work. He is currently making two huge clocks with tons of fret work and pieces. So, I ended up making a new scroll friend. He said to come by anytime and he would give me some tips or show me some things I can do. He says he comes on here from time to time under the name wood pappy...but I haven't seen him. Still it was pretty cool running into him, and did I say I sure wish I had $50 for that darn saw.

Your right there mrtcurtis, when my husband and I where in Ireland coming off an elevator as we were getting on was a lady that my husband works with here in Australia.  Small world.  So did the man with the scroll saw say that he would hold it for you until you were back that way?

He gave me his card. He does yard sale as a business, so he said if I want it call him and if he has it he will sell it to me for that same price. He also had a craftman saw for $40...the Skil saw had a light and was a lot nicer for only $10 more. I am searching for money and hope to get it. =)

My cousin lives in Mesa, AZ. I recently made some orders to ship down there. Small world, huh.

Yes, it is. I have had small world experiences many times. Funniest two were kind of the same. #1 I was walking out of a base post office in Sasebo, Japan and bumped into a guy I had known years before. It was a small base and he was not stationed there, just happened to be passing through. #2 I was in El Paso TX about 20 years ago at 2 AM. Physically ran into a big biker guy as I was entering a McDonalds. He followed me in and began questioning me to see if I had been in the Navy, in Japan, in Sasebo....found out the big biker guy was a Marine I knew. He had gotten out, grown hair long, got tatoo'd and gained about 150 pounds. He was there for a bikers convention. It is a small world for sure. =)
