Christmas Ornaments.... :+}
« on: October 12, 2012, 10:52:43 am »
Good T.G.I.F. to Everyone.
     Well I have my Annual Craft Show in less than a month.  I have displayed 3/4's of the ornaments that I have Finished.  I cut all using 1/8" BB and stacked each in FIVE layers.
I like COLOR, so u can see I painted many.  Of course NATURAL wood always looks good.

I have my thoughts and feelings about what my asking price will be....BUT....With so many
of you that do craft shows I would appreciate your input on what you would charge.

And of course I always like to here the Pros and also the Cons.  Thanks....  Danny:+}

Very nice looking ornaments there Danny. It's difficult to guess what you should price your ornaments at because I don't know your area. One thing I have learned though is folks like deals, like two for ____. For my small ornaments I charge $3 each or two for $5. The large ones are $8 or two $14, and others I have for $15 or two for $28.
I have my first show next Sunday and a demo on both Friday and Saturday at Woodcraft. Boy, I have a lot of work to do, I better get back to the shop!

Danny I did a show last Saturday and sold about $300.  Of that $6 was ornaments  Two ornaments -  and my wife actually sold those.  Past sales have been just as bad. SOOOOOOooo  I have not given up.  Purchased a 10 foot piece of pine garland and some red ribbon. today my wife and I  put ribbons on all of the ornaments. The garland will wrap around one of the poles of the easy up and the ornaments will hang fon the branches. Hopefully a different display will attract more notice.    Most of them are about 4 inches tall.  All are stack cut so I ask $4 or 3 for $10. We have a show tomorrow and I will let you know how it goes.

These all look fantastic. I debated between natural wood or painting. I decided to paint some of my ornaments. What kind of paint did you use? I got some acrylic white for my snowflake ornament. I was thinking about getting spray paint and just spraying it...but wasnt sure.

Ornament Sales Update

Yesterdays show was about 4-5 hours long. Made about $200  Sold 1 (one) ornament.  Lots of compliments, lots of OH how Pretty etc.  We wrapped a pine garland around the pole of the canopy and hung the ornaments on the branches.  I know they got a lot more notice but only sold 1.  I told my wife I would offer a free ornament with each purchase if I were not afraid folks would not buy anything if the had to take an ornament!!!  Guess I will try paint a few of them and see what happens. Other items sold fine so I do not think it is the cutting.

Great looking ornaments! Love the color. Price them whatever you feel comfortable with. When someone makes a large purchase at a craft show, I like to give them an ornament.
