Looking for a wood supplier in the Ohio area
« on: September 20, 2012, 11:16:24 am »
Hi everyone!  I had a customer of mine from Ohio ask me where he could get some good hardwood for scroll sawing.  I didn't even know that Sloan's doesn't sell it anymore (DUH to me!!) In fairness, I have been here in Canada for eight years and haven't purchased any from the states.

Anyway . . . do any of you know of a good supplier that you can recommend?  The wood needs to be dressed and 'nearly' ready for scroll sawing (no planing or resawing, but some sanding will be OK)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.

Take care, Sheila

Hey Sheila!

http://www.ocoochhardwoods.com Would be a good one.  I haven't ordered anything since some new owners took over, but I'm sure they are still good to deal with!  They aren't in Ohio though.  And this one right here is in Ohio!  http://www.kencraftcompany.com.  I have heard some good things from them.  And they might be able to go there locally and save shipping!

Hope this helps

Hi Sheila, I can't speak for anyplace in Ohio, but to get ready to scroll hardwoods, have your customer contact www.ocoochhardwoods.com. They supply woods in thickness needed for the scroller. I have personally ordered from them several times and have been happy with what I have received!

Thank you both!  I will certainly pass on the information. I met the owners of Oochooch and they were really wonderful people!
