Modify to Christmas Ornaments....Plus....
« on: June 18, 2012, 02:21:11 pm »
Cut all these out of BB and I have come to the conclusion that Spray Painting them looks better than using the Oil or Stain and Varnish.  Lot Cheaper also.

Thanks for your TIP Dan (dgman).  Not sure bout the Glitter.  Might need another TIP on proper procedure for applying.  Did very badly years ago.  LOL

Am ALWAYS interested in a better way to make wood look Great....Danny  :+}

Nice work and a good tip on painting them. I was debating painting some if I made them. My wife was thinking they are wood so wood stain them. Maybe she will see that painting them can be nice too. Thanks for sharing.

I love this new product from DecoArt called Glamour Dust Glitter paint. It is fine glitter suspended in a clear or colored base.  It isn't gaudy like some of the bigger flakes of glitter and it really makes the pieces have a wonderfully beautiful shimmer.  You could spray the ornaments white and then apply either the clear Glamour Dust paint (I think they call it Ice Crystal) or even a gold or silver.  They would look awesome

It is water based and odor free and easy to apply.  Just brush on as many coats as you need.  Dare I say it is "foolproof". :)

The link to it is here: https://www.decoart.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=D&Category_Code=DGD

It is also available where you buy DecoArt paints (places like Michael's and Hobby Lobby)  I think you would like it and I think the ornaments would look nice with it.

By the way - they are AWESOME on their own.  You did a wonderful job on them!

Have fun!  Sheila

Those look great. I made a whole basket last year and gave them away as a visiting gift when people came over to the house. Gave about 30 away. Every one loved them.
