I always use LibraOffice.  It is standard on Linux/Ubuntu.  Works great.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Seyco Saw
« on: June 13, 2017, 02:43:29 pm »
I received my Seyco Fri.  Before memorial day. Since I'm an old geezer, it took me longer to assemble and tune as perfectly as I could. The saw is smoothe and  very quiet. Just sold my Dewalt yesterday. Looking forward to many hours and projects on this machine.
A caution.....if anyone has  a pacemaker or other implanted medical device that can be affected by magnetism, please be aware that the motor has a very strong magnetic field. (So does the Dewalt). Keep a safe distance. The magnetic top cover is almost non existent. I tried to attract a scroll blade and it fell in my hand.
Hope all y'all enjoy yours when you get it.

Interesting about pacemakers. I have been running a Dewalt for the past 4 years with out it effecting my pacer.   Different makes and models of pacemakers might be the issue?

This is one my favorite patterns that Steve has done.  It was one of my first attempts (I don't show that is ANYBODY! LOL) and here is my latest.  1/8" oak ply with a 1/4" BB ply backer that is painted black.

It is a pattern by Steve from a few weeks ago.  He designed it as a shelf sitter, I have made it as a wall hanging.  Stack cut 4 layers of 1/8" oak ply and a 1/4" backer painted black.

This is a Jeff Zaffino pattern I found last year.  I stack cut two 1/8" oak ply, cut with 3/0 FD spiral blades.  Finish is BLO-Mineral Spirits mixed 50 x50.  In an 11 X 14" frame.

Thanks Kepy.  I like oak because it looks nice when finished.  A little harder to cut, but worth it.

This is probably my favorite pattern.  I cut it from 1/2" oak and put it on a 1" thick stand.  Used #1 and 3# FD blades for most of it and tried 0/2 spiral FD blade for the really small cuts.

A lonely widow decides to buy a parrot so that she has some company.  She finds one on Craiglist that was owned by a sailor who needed the money.   She brings the bird home, puts it in its cage and it starts swearing a blue streak and will not stop.  This bothers her a lot!  To get it to stop swearing, she puts the cover over the cage.  This make the bird even louder as it keeps swearing.  The lady gets angry.  She takes the bird a throws it in one of the kitchen cupboards.  The bird goes crazy!  It is flapping around and screeching and swearing even louder.  It get some quite, she takes the bird out of the cupboard and pushes it into the freezer section of the frig, thinking the insulation will keep the noise down.  She can hear the bird still swearing at full volume.  After about 2 minutes it gets completely quiet.  The lady thinks ?I hope I didn?t kill it, I paid a lot of money for that bird.?  She opens the freezer door and the parrot quietly hops out and says to her.  ?I am very sorry for all the bad language.  I promise never to swear again.  I only have one question.  What did the chicken do to make you angry??
