Ask Steve a question. / Re: Rapid Resizer
« on: September 13, 2016, 06:30:12 pm »
I understand that the patterns from the workshop will work for free on rapid resizer.

My question is if you purchase this program will you be able to change any patterns color if you choose?

Ask Steve a question. / PDF links in catalog
« on: September 12, 2016, 02:40:45 pm »
Good morning Steve

I recently purchased the pdf catalog from your site.   It downloaded and is on my desktop.
When I tried to use it, it brought up the catalog for viewing, when I located a pattern I put the
name in and it showed the link to download, however when clicking on the link it would not load
or go to that link,  I have version 1.  Am I doing something wrong? Sorry to bother you I know how
busy you are.
Waiting your reply.
Thanks for all you do.

Regards
Jack Ruska

Hey Peter,

Your choice of woods really compliments your project.  Very nicely done my friend.   Your wife will cherish that gift for years.

Very nice craftsman ship.  Thanks for sharing.

John really hard to believe you just started a few months ago.  Tackling projects such as those tells me the sky's the limit.

Outstanding cuts.  Thanks for sharing.  Looking forward to seeing more of your work. :)

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: How to put finish on latest project

The foam meat trays are excellent for dipping.  I have a stack of them in the shop.  On small pieces like ornaments, I pour some Danish Oil in the tray and drop my pieces in.  I let them sit a couple of minutes and then pick them up with a bent paper clip.  Hang them on a string or coat hanger and let them dry.

Soaking is definitely the best way I have found for fret work.   Sometimes the piece might be to large to do this, so I found that pipe cleaner is the way to go.
Just dip the end of the pipe cleaner into what ever you are using for a finish, and then into the fret cut out.  It gets into the smallest areas and gets a good coating on the piece.  When finished with the interior cuts now you can use the foam brush to do the face.  Works great.

Hey there and welcome to the forum.
Yes you do have a very stressful job. I can relate to it for sure.  You will find this very rewarding hobby.
As you will soon find out, you can get lost in scroll sawing.  Very relaxing.

Enjoy and welcome for the Blue Ridge Mts of VA

Hey there and welcome.
As you can see we have a great forum here.  Lots of answers to any problem.
My 2 cents.  Keep with Flying Dutchman and you won't go wrong.  Enjoy your new
hobby, and make lots of saw dust.

Thank you for all the nice remarks.  My Christmas has grown each year.  It starts out with  24 Christmas ornaments which have to be finished by Thanksgiving.
That is one of our traditions. Everyone gets a handmade ornament to exchange. Then on to the Christmas list.  I try to make everyone in our family a
handcrafted gift.  Last year I made my Grandson a 50 cal. machine gun that shot 50 rubber bands  at a time.  That was a trip. ;D  It was on a 3 ft Tripod, that swiveled
I don't know who enjoyed it more,  me making it, or my grandson playing with it.   He called it the Eliminator.
Thanks again, and keep on making sawdust.
Jack
