Hey fellow scrollers, I'm in the market for reasonably simple plans for a humidor that a novice woodworker could handle. Thank you!

I'm in the market for a magnifying lamp. There's several listed on Amazon. Anyone got one that they couldn't live without and highly recommend? Thank you.

Thanks Larry. I was hoping to avoid Inkscape but guess not. Cheers.

Computer questions / Steve Goode's patterns.

Is there any way of making Steve's patterns darker when I print them off? They're always so light (yes I have ink, yes I try greyscale, etc.). Thank you.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Fonts
« on: June 04, 2020, 03:20:47 pm »
Hello from Kelowna, B.C. . I've a request from "client". I don't sell my work but if someone thinks enough of my feeble efforts I try to accommodate them. I'm cutting a horse themed welcome sign for them but none of the fonts I've provided as choices if "western" enough for them. Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted. Thank you.

Pattern Requests. / Mounting war medal
« on: February 23, 2020, 03:26:26 pm »
Hi all. Looking for ideas to mount my father - in - law's war medals. All I've been able to come up with is something boxy. I've got the tools but not the imagination. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you very much. I'd put a lot of hours into the scroll work and didn't really want to have to do it again. Cheers!

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Tape on partially finished work
« on: April 21, 2019, 10:31:55 pm »
I applied blue painters tape to a partially cut out pattern to keep some of the finer cuts from getting damaged and falling out. I then had health issues that prevented me from visiting the shop for several months and removing the tape. Now I'm concerned that the tape will do a lot of damage if I try to remove it. Is there something I can "wash" the tape with that will remove the tape and leave the work undamaged or stained. Thank you.

Hi Arkiewood. I had the same issue. I now use a barstool and more importantly a short footstool about six inches high. I change feet every 45 minutes to an hour and that resolved the problem. Cheers.

Hello from the smoky Okanagan (Kelowna, B.C.). Could one of my fellow Canadian scrollers suggest a Canadian supplier for blades please? Thank you.

SSNovice - painter's tape on the wood then spray the tape and the back of my pattern. Thank you all. Henceforth no more packing tape! Cheers.

Been "scrolling" for seven years (ish). I cover my wood with painter's tape, spray the tape and backside of the pattern with spray adhesive, apply to the tape, and cover with good quality packing tape. _However_ inevitably when cutting fretwork or making intricate, tiny cuts the packing tape and pattern separate and it turns into guess work as to where to cut. Does this happen to everyone and you just accept it or am I missing something? Thank you.
