Very pleased with my 3 year old 40694. Not aware of any lack of availability. Great saw for the price.

My first scroller was the same unit; it was bolted to a wooden bench. I do not recall any vibration problems so long as I kept the speed under 75%
I got a great Black Friday price, and it was a good unit to learn on.

I cut while sitting and use a deadman switch on the floor. My switch came from Amazon and is sturdy and appx. 3in x 5 in. I have 2 sided carpet tape on the
bottom to prevent a lot of sliding around.

That is the one; many scrollers quickly discard them as they are always in the way.

When I had the Cman saw pinless blade changing was a pain, due to the need to use the supplied hex wrench on the lock screw. I made it simpler by using a thumb type
lock screw which did away with the wrench. If memory serves this old mind, I used the lock screw from the blade guard, which gave me an excuse to get rid of that useless accessory.

I found a non-magnifier LED light for $10 at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It has a flex shaft and a large gator clip, so I can put the light directly on my work area.

This was my first saw, and I learned a bunch while using it. Never had a problem in 3 years. Dust collection was good, unit was very stable when bolted to a stand or bench.Stick to the pinless blades, blade changing is a bit tedious, but you get used to it. Good value for the price.

mikesworkshop.com is still handling FD blades under new ownership. My last order received the same great service that Mike provided for many years.
Olsen blades are also fine, but I find them rather pricey at the local Ace Hardware.

My all-time favorite baseball player, the great Yogi Berra, passed away last year at the ripe old age of 90. My sons, also Yankee fans, presented me with an autographed baseball for Christmas. I used one of Steve's patterns and his nameplate program to create a display holder for this wonderful gift.

The Delta unit can be had for as much as $100 cheaper than its yellow cousin. You might take a look at Amazon; when I bought my unit last year there was a $50
mfg. coupon built into the pricing..
I too had problems with the vent hose. I wound up taping it to the nipple and adding a small hose clamp. works fine.

I've also used the Minwax Prefinish with good results on pine, birch, and aspen. The stuff evaporates quickly, so be ready to stain shortly after applying the pre-finish.
I also test my stain on a piece of matching scrap to see if the softwood is going to blotch.

Ditto on the FD UR#1. Got some on my last order from Mike's and find them very useful on Ply and hardwood.
