Hello Brian,
Is this what you mean?
You probably have to simplify it, but I didn't want to take away to many details.
I made this pattern from a picture of a real excisting windmill, called "de zwaan" (the swan)
And this windmill is located in Holland, Michigan.
Nice Coincidence, isn't it?
I hope you can use it.
When not, it was good to practice with Gimp again.

I have this saw with variable speed. For about 7-8 years as I bought my saw they were also available with variable speed.
I don't know since when they're not sold anymore but now they're only available with two-speed.
I am completely satisfied with this saw; it's complete, wasn't too expensive, runs calmly.
In this time I once had to renew the balloon for the dustblower and the screws for fixating the sawblades were lame once.
I got some new ones, from stainless steel and the problem was solved.
I have to say, I never worked with another saw, but for this price I believe you have a good saw.
I never regretted it.

I don't exactly know what you mean with non-standard blades, but mine takes the normal 13 cm (=5").
As I said, I'm completely satisfied with my saw and I made several different things with several sorts of wood.
I can't compare it with a Hegner machine but it certainly isn't a bad saw.

Hello Josef,
my saw is a proxxon saw and I am completely satisfied with it.
I have the Proxxon DSH-E (like the DSH, only with variable speed) and it works fine.
At the bottom the blade is in a clamp with a screw, therefore you need a tool.
At the top the blad is in a clamp you can lock per hand. Both ways are easy, the second one goes faster.
At the pictures you can see both.
I think it's a very good saw but I have to be honest, I never worked with a Hegner saw.
But those saws cost a lot more.
The saw you want to buy is bigger than mine, but I think it will work the same.
And then, you have a good saw for a good price.
Good luck with your choice and when you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Last month I ordered some blades to cut metal and I want to try it too.
But I think it will take some time before I can do it like you do.
